CBD Information

What is CBD?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a natural extract from the Hemp plant. The Hemp plant is a close-cousin of the cannabis plant and has very low amounts of THC, the part that gives a “high”.

CBD and other Cannabinoids have been used for years around the worls as a natural remedy for various different reasons.

Yes CBD is legal and no it won’t get me “High”!
In the UK, CBD products are legal so long as they contain less than 0.2% of THC.
Not all products from the Cannabis plant are illegal and if consumed can be beneficial.

THC in the above stated amounts has no psychoactive effects.

Is it safe to use?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is widely considered to be safe, CBD has been consumed for many years around the world.

CBD is not a medicine and should not be considered to be one, just like any other food supplement.

Will I fail a drugs test if I take CBD?
CBD products sold in the UK must contain only trace amounts of THC (this is the element that a Drugs Test focusses on) you would have to consume a large volume to fail a drugs test.

Can you overdose on CBD?
No. CBD is non-toxic and no fatal overdose levels have been reported. The conclusion from studies is that CBD is well tolerated at levels greater than the average person would need.

What are the beneficial properties of CBD?
People take Cannabidiol (CBD) to manage a vast range of conditions. Due to the current classification of CBD as a food supplement, we are not allowed to give any specific advice or make any medical claims

What is % strength or mg?
mg = milligram(s) is the amount of CBD in the product in total, % strength is the percentage of CBD in the product in total

% Strength is calculated using the below formula and is based on a 5% 500mg 10 ml CBD oil.

Volume: (1ml = 1000mg) Bottle size is 10ml so 1000*10 = 10,000mg
500mg (active ingredient CBD)
500/10,000 = 0.05 or 5%

Some companies may put the same amount of CBD in a larger bottle e.g 30ml. Giving you a weaker product as can be seen below: -

500/30,000 = 0.0167 or 1.67%

This means you would have to take 3 times the amount in millilitres (ml) to get the same amount of CBD.

Examples:
A 10ml 500mg CBD product would be a much stronger product per ml than a 30ml 500mg CBD product.

A 10ml 5% CBD product would be the same strength product per ml to a 30ml 5% CBD product

Potential adverse effects and drug interactions?
The NHS have a useful Q&A article and document to highlight any possible adverse effects or interactions with prescribed or other medicines.
